**BE STORM PROACTIVE** Your pets rely on you to make them feel safe an secure. Over the past few days we have had large thunder storms over most of QLD and as a result have had an influx of missing and found pets. Please be proactive in keeping your pets safe from storms. Here are some quick tips on how to do this: * Bring your pets indoors, this is so important and we cannot stress this enough. Even the most placid pet that is not a fence jumper can scale their regular fence when scared. Put them in the bathroom or laundry if you have to, its safer than outside alone. * Create a safe place for your pets they can access when they are anxious. It could be a crate, under a bed or cuddled under a blanket. Let them choose their safe haven and let them have access to it in a storm. * Try to distract your pet by playing a game or some music. A favorite toy can be a great tool for this. * If your pet has high anxiety levels you could try a snug shirt. These are designed to give your pet a snug cuddle and help alleviate fear in some pets. Their are multiple types that can be purchased online. * Try not to reward their anxiety, use distraction and praise when they are calm and relaxed. * Always have legible ID tags on your pets and get them microchipped.
