BEFORE AND AFTER WORSHIP There is no pastor alive who hasn’t had - TopicsExpress

BEFORE AND AFTER WORSHIP There is no pastor alive who hasn’t had his spirit and message crushed by a message delivered on the way to the pulpit. These aren’t messages of personal concern about one’s life and family. These are angry incidentals dropped like bombs on the pastor when he can do nothing about the problem. In addition, he has no time to discuss the “whys and wherefores” of the issue, and he may likely forget the details by the time he can make notes to remind himself of it. I developed a habit during the last years of my pastorates of stopping a person who wanted to talk about something after the service, when the press of people required my attention. I simply turned the responsibility back to the individual to either write me a note, or call the church office on Monday morning, because – as I would explain to them – there was no way I was going to remember the issue they wanted to talk about by the time I had shaken the hands of more than half the congregation, tried to greet the newcomers and remember enough about them so I could make a pastoral call on them.
