BEFORE YOU ACCEPT THAT OFFER Let me tell you about a man named Jack. Jack worked with three other Christians guys in a small auto-repair shop. They shared devotions every Monday morning, attended the same church, and put forth a nice witness to the community through their business. But Jack lover big trucks and had always harbored a dream to drive over the road. One day, he got the opportunity. An acquaintance who knew of his desire called and offered him a job hauling cargo from coast to coast. He jumped at the chance. The problem was that the job isolated him. No longer did he have his three Christian buddies by his side. Instead, he was stuck inside the cab of a truck for hours at a time, traveling to places where he wasnt known, and encountering temptations he wasnt accustomed to. It was the kind of freedom hed never known but always longed for. It was liberating, fun and exciting. Until he got the news. A girl hed met at one of his stops was pregnant and claiming he was the father. Jacks analysis of the situation was simple and painfully true. He said, Looking back, I can see that the moment I struck out on my own, Satan showed up. He climbed right into that cab with me, put his feet up on the dash, and made himself right at home. I never really knew what temptation was until I found myself all alone a thousand miles from home. And thats how Satan works. Hell badger anybody, but he especially lover to pick on a man whos all alone. So, dont let it happen. Dont make yourself an easy target. Dont let yourself be caught without an accountability relationship. Hook up with someone you can trust. Someone you can talk to about intimate things. Not a yes man but someone who cares enough about you to tell you the truth, even if it hurts. Hook up with someone who will point our your blind spots. Hook up with someone who will get in your face if necessary to keep you from doing something self-destructive. Proverbs 27:6 says, Wounds from a friend are better than many kisses from an enemy. And verse 17 of the same Chapter says, As Iron sharpens Iron, a friend sharpens a friend. Watch out. Pray and be watchful before accepting that offer - (Job/Employment, Contract, Visa, Opportunity, Idea, Relationship ... Whatsoever). It could land you in a place of regret and tongue biting. See you at the top.
