BELIEF VS. UNBELIEF Luke 1 Part two Zechariah and Mary...blessed by God through two births but two very different responses. What could we learn from this passage? I would hope my faith would be able to make that kind of leap of faith whenever I am talking to an angel.The kind of faith that whatever God would speak through an angel would be received in full faith. But the response to the miracles of God can be received differently, as we see here. Mary believed and was blessed - Zechariah questioned and was struck mute. Zechariah was a man well acquainted with the stories of men of faith including Abraham,Joseph, and Noah. Yet when the angel came, his faith faltered. We have the Bible and within it we have the stories of those who walked with God and those who failed in their walk. We have the ability to study and worship as much and as long as we choose. It builds faith and yet faith seems to some of us difficult to grasp. Is it possible that we lose faith because we dont understand that in God - all things are possible and without God we close the door to miracles? Is it possible the more we think we know,the more we box God into our perceptions rather than the reverse. Mary received the news of the baby God would bless her with,without pause. She was not a learned woman and did not wear the robes of a Jewish Priest but she did experience the hand of God as no other woman has ever since. It is such a beautiful thing that our God does not distinguish between one over another and that each were blessed, regardless of their responses to the news. We do not hold heavens business up and God moves in spite of our narrow mindedness of Gods ways and miracles. God is God and we in our limited mindsets can only hope to understand His ways and Words. Do we seek the miracles or the Miracle maker today? I seek to stretch my faith in every area that limits me or where I lack. Its my hope for the journey ahead.
