BEVERLEY LITERATURE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES ITS FIREST EVER CREATIVE WRITING SCHOOL In partnership with Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook, Beverley Literature Festival is hosting its first ever Creative Writing School this October. The festival, which runs from Thursday, 10 to Sunday, 13 October, will feature the intensive course for aspiring writers, which will be led by two renowned novelists Toby Litt and Helen Cross. Toby is the author of the alphabetically-arranged Adventures in Capitalism, Beatniks, Corpsing, deadkidsongs, Exhibitionism, Finding Myself, Ghost Story, Hospital, I Play the Drums in a Band Called okay, Journey into Space and King Death. In 2003, he was named one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists. He was the winner of the 2009 Manchester Fiction Prize. He is a regular on Radio 3’s The Verb. Helen, raised in the East Riding of Yorkshire, won huge acclaim for her first novel, My Summer of Love, which won a Betty Trask Award and became a BAFTA award-winning feature film. She is currently working on a film adaptation of her latest novel, Spilt Milk Black Coffee for Rainy Day Films. Participants will stay at the stunning Tickton Grange Hotel, enjoying three morning classes and lots of time to write in this idyllic country retreat as well as a free pass to festival events throughout the weekend. They will also experience one-to-one sessions with the tutors and exclusive sessions with the editor of the creative writer’s bible, Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook, Alysoun Owen, sharing her experience and tips on getting published. The course is priced at £449 (Early Bird discount if booked by Friday, 20 September) or £479 (Full Price) and Includes B&B accommodation, light lunch, exclusive minibus transport into Beverley and a free weekend pass to Beverley Literature Festival.
