BEWARE OF INSINCERE CONFESSION (2) This is the concluding part of the study, “BEWARE OF INSINCERE CONFESSION. In the first part, we discovered one of the 3 types of insincere confession which is Waiting Too Late. This last part is on the other 2 insincere confessions. Be blessed as you read! Joshua 7:21, “When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. And there they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it.” 2, Waiting Until It’s Over Procrastination of your confession is more dangerous than the consequence of what you committed. Procrastination and fear are major strategies of the devil to keep you in the bondage of the present sin and unconfessed past sin. Satan can give you one thousand and one excuses and reasons to delay and procrastinate; you may want to procrastinate until today over, until this month is over, until you get married, until you have children, until you get a job, until you get a better job, until you get promoted, until you have enough money, until you can stand on your own, until you travel overseas; or until many people are not around, until the person also changes, until you have a better time, until you are older, that may delay until after the rapture or till you die? Which of them has been your procrastinating excuse? Achan might have been waiting till the battle was over before he would confess his secret sin, but he never saw the end of that month before his hidden sin ruined him. It may be too late before today is over before we make open our hidden sins. Waiting until something is over or better is a deception of the devil, and even when we confess when it is over; such confession will be under-sincere. A woman who waits till she marries before she will confess something of her past to her fiancé will eventually present her case as insincere. It is better to confess now and face the shame of men and the glory of God than to wait until it is over and never have another chance. There is no other better time than now, since we are not in the commit of God to know what will happen before tonight; rapture or death can take place before the next day and that is what makes delay to be too dangerous. 3, Confessing Without Repentance The most terrible and insincere confession in life is confessing without genuine repentance. Repentance is the readiness to forsake and stop what you confess. Confessing something you did wrong and not ready to forsake it is gross insincere confession, or why do you confess something when you still want to continue committing it? Confessing your sin to God when you are not ready to forsake the sin is insincere confession, and to confess what you did wrong and then go back to do it over again is insincere confession. Confession without repentance will not bring a change of life or mercy of God. A confessing mouth of sin without a repentant heart is empty and of no use in our relationship with God and with men. What makes a confession profitable and useful is repentance, what attracts God’s mercy is repentance. We need to understand something here; people who died and gone to hell, why is it impossible for them to receive mercy of God and forgiveness for their sins? Is it because there is no room for them to confess their sins? NO! There are so many lost souls in hell making confession of their sins every day, that God should pardon them, but why is it too late? It is too late because, though there is confession in hell, but there is no repentance in hell. When there is no repentance, confession is useless and baseless, and so when you also, though you are still alive, make confession without genuine repentance, your confession cannot bring mercy of God or forgiveness of the sin you confess. That is the reason there are many people always confessing their sins and always committing the same sins over and over again; they will confess the sin in the evening and repeat it during the day. Such people always have sorry case because there is no sorrow of repentance. Beloved, if you don’t want your case to be like that of Achan, if you don’t want to have a sorry case, then you need to repent and confess your sins now so that you will experience permanent time of refreshment from God and freedom from your sin. If you have been saved, then you need not to delay further to make open the past sin to the necessary people, so that your past will not become your problem at the end.
