BEWARE PNB MANAGEMENT CAN SUSPEND AN EMPLOYEE AFTER HIS DEATH, CAN CONDUCT ENQUIRY AND PROVE ALLEGATION AGAINST DEAD EMPLOYEE TO DISMISS HIM AND CAN BE CRUEL TO DENY ALL TERMINAL BENEFITS TO KEEP THE FAMILY OF DECEASED EMPLOYEE TO FACE SITUATION OF STARVATION Today I am feeling happy as I have been instrumental in securing a little bit justice for the family members of an ill fated employee. I wish to share this interesting story with my PNB colleagues to let them know how much insensitive our management is towards its employees whom it keeps calling PNB Family. Sri Ved Prakash, an employee from PNB proceeded to join the bank on 24.07.2000. He neither reached bank on that day nor returned back home. His family members ran from pillar to post to trace him but could not find him. Thereafter, they lodged an FIR with local police station. Management of our bank instead of helping the family in distress, suspended the employees whose whereabouts were not known for charge of embezzlement of Rs.5000/. Thereafter, served charge sheet upon him, conducted an ex party enquiry and proved the charges to dismiss him from banks service. His entire provident fund was used to clear the loans. No one cared for his family which comprises aged parents, wife, 5 daughters and two sons. Wife of the ill fated employee who is illiterate ran towards executives of the bank and union leaders. She got assurances only. In the meantime, his old parents and two daughters died due to the situation of starvation. Matter came to my notice in 2009. I took up the matter with the management referring RBI guidelines which provide settlement of terminal dues after one year for an employee whose whereabouts are not known provided an FIR has been filed with police and police has come to the conclusion during its investigation that such person has not been seen. The matter was kept hanging by assuring that it has been referred to HO. Seeing the condition of the family, I sat on Satyagrah on 16th November 2009 in front of Circle Office and remained without food till 19th November when I was persuaded to break my fast by assurance from CH who sent a fax message in my presence to Head Office to expedite the matter. While no justice was done to family in distress in spite of 3 day long Satyagrah and Hunger Strike, management of the bank secured injunction against me from holding any demonstration in front of CO, served a charge sheet upon me for holding demonstration inside the CO from 6.30 PM to 7.30 PM and disturbing the working of the bank. Under these circumstances, I got filed a suit in local court for getting civil death of the employee. Court declared employee civil dead and decided date of death as 24.07.2000. Then I filed case for Payment of Gratuity to legal heir before controlling authority. Case has now been decided in favour of legal heir and gratuity has been computed as Rs.153020/ along with 10% interest. Now she has got Rs.350000/ as Gratuity i.e. The maximum amount of gratuity at that time. Now next job is to get full salary for suspension period, getting disciplinary proceedings quashed, getting family pension and so on. This is the reality of cruel management of PNB. Those who keep talking and advocating, I am ready to hand over this case to them to let them handle and secure justice for ill fated family. Any one involved in raising disputes, can assume how many years it will take in present situation to secure justice. Will it be a justice in real sense? Justice delayed means justice denied. Cant we sum up that PNB management has denied and still denying justice to a member of PNB Family?
