BEWARE!!! There is a new happening in town! Particular travel agency(ies) are cropping up in the town of Bamenda (and other towns) where documents are being processed for women and girls to travel to Lebanon. LEBANON! What for? I was in one of the agencies in town just to find out. I was told these girls are sent out there to work as domestic servants/housegirls in Lebanon. -The agent said these girls work with their employees under a 3 years contract on a salary for 100.000frs CFA (approximately $200). -The agent also said these girls stay indoors for three years without leaving the confines of the house of their employees just to prevent them from unnecessary spending, and promote wise saving. -These girls leave their employees only after the 3 years contract is terminated (renewable). -Before these girls leave for Lebanon, a full shot (photograph) is sent to the employees in Lebanon which they analyze to determine physical fitness of the girl -A medical examination is conducted to these girls prior to departure; STDs and HIV/AIDS -Any girl diagnsed with STD and or HIV/AIDS is dropped. -The agent told me his clients are mostly frustrated girls and women who need to go away and make life elsewhere; unemployed, divorced, old and single, and so on. PLEASE, CAMEROONIANS, CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS IS??? I AM JUST ASKING! IT COULD BE GENUINE! OR IS IT ANOTHER FORM OF TRAFFICKING GIRLS FOR PROSTITUTION! Kudos to Ada Atoh, the fierce gender based violence advocate who called my attention on this. She is planning a thorough investigation on this very important issue. Go Ada!!
