BFF Cindy Saiah took the chunnel over from Paris to spend some time with us during our time in London and by complete serendipity the niece and nephew she stayed with live a ten minute walk from our hotel a block from the Earls Court tube station. . . . Yesterday we took a London Walks tour of Highgate and today was a leisurely all-day trip to Richmond/Hampton Court Palace. Train ride, boat ride to the Palace up the Thames, fascinating guided tour -- and guess what Im most excited about? On our way out (after a scone and tea near the kings kitchens) I came face-to-face with Ian Mcniece, one of my favorite British character actors! You might know him as Bert Large in Doc Martin, but hes been around forever. As is usual here (and unheard of at home), no one paid him a bit of mind and he was able to sightsee with his GF and kids like everyone else. . . . Oh, and on yesterdays tour we saw Ray Davies of the Kinks sitting in his living room with his dog with the window wide open to the sidewalk not two feet away.
