BH UPDATE: Shabbat Weekend in Paris - Will you come with me? THANK YOU to the many people around the world who have asked to come with me to spend a weekend in Paris. I have had about 100 inquiries. Thank you to the French residents and global humanitarians who have advised me on this need and the best way to do this in a meaningful way that will really connects us. WE ARE A COOL MIXED BAG! Most missions have a homogeneous group. We are a mixed bag of people from 20s to 70s of all religious observance (plus non-Jewish) and with many diverse professions and economic levels yet we all want to support French families impacted by the attacks. MAJOR DECISIONS: 1. Become part of a larger group or go independently? We can possibly join up with another mission from a major institution if they will accept us last minute for as early as February, or go ourselves in March. 2. Stay in the suburbs of Paris where they have been hardest hit (and we have been requested by leadership in France to go there to help) or stay in the Centre where most tourists stay and where I had first posted? (Originally, I thought the need was in Jewish Area in the Centre.) Would you be willing to shift our location to the suburbs of Paris for the Shabbat weekend? 3. Are you comfortable if we collaborate with a major synagogue/s and/or head Rabbi/s to coordinate with us to help find Shabbat families even though we all have different levels of religious observance from unaffiliated to Modern Orthodox. Of course people who prefer to go to their own shul choice are free to do that. (Some people just want to eat with a family and forego services. All choices are welcome. Please let me know your preference. The focus of this trip is compassion and solidarity. 4. I will go Thursday to Monday. (Please let me know your preferred travel days; some have said they must return Sunday.) 5. Does anyone have airline contacts to get us a great group fare? (Most people from the USA can join up with us at a NYC area airport but those from around the world I will try to help you also.) 6. Your budget for airfare, transfer and hotel? Would you be okay in a 3 or 4 star hotel for the weekend or do you prefer a 5 star option? ( We may stay 2 different hotels.) Do you want to fly coach or do you prefer business or first class? 7. A few wonderful people with limited funds have asked to go with us also. Does anyone want to sponsor another persons trip fully or donate money for A TRAVEL FUND to cover part of their expenses? Thanks! What did I forget? Please post your responses here, or fb message me, or email me so we can move forward and I will be able to set up a travel page. I hope to see you all in Paris. Thank you so much, Saranne
