** BHANGRA WARS 2013 - JUST A FEW WORDS ** Bhangra Wars 2013 started as an idea in 2011 by myself as a niche in the market for this type of event was clearly obvious. The event was never conceived to make a profit but to create a platform for UK Bhangra as an art form and to support charities close to my heart. The past 2 years have seen changes in the organisation and management of the Competition as it is now owned by Simplybhangra. I became part of this well-known International Online Media giant in August 2012. I was given the title as "Project Manager" and selected a new organising committee to work alongside me. My organising committee have truly worked hard and selected the most elite UK Bhangra Teams this year. I can truly say that the Bhangra Dancers who graced the stage of the Adrian Boult Hall yesterday have done Justice to the blood, sweat and tears which no doubt they have gone through since March. Bhangra is more than a "dance act" it is a physically demanding art form which requires passion and determination from its lovers - the dancers. I am proud of the Competing Teams who chose to compete this year and by doing so they have shown that they salute Bhangra and wish to preserve its legacy and provide us with a glimpse of Panjabi Culture. Thank you to the 8 Competing Teams; Asian Street Remix, Ankhile Girls, Gabru Chel Chabileh, Ankhi Jawan, Ankhile Putt Punjab De, Nachda Sansaar, Josh Valaithian Da, Gabhru Academy. Thank you to our 5 Judges; Dr. Randeep Singh Dhariwal, Randeep Singh Sohal, Simon Berik, Mandeep Kaur Randhwaw, Ravneet Kaur. Thank you to our professional and well-suited host Dipps Bhamrah for supporting the event. Thank you to our Gold Sponsors & Supporters; E3UK, TS Designs, Bhangra-Media Group, SKE-Events, Desi Rhythm Entertainments, Manpreet Singh Photography, Madtatter Films, Dollar Entertainment. A massive thank you to our chosen charities for allowing us to support them - Khalsa Aid & Focus Punjab and British Sikh Doctors Organisation. We reached our target of £3000 for Khalsa Aid & Focus Punjab.
