BIO of Julia A Chopin (B. May 27,1856 D. Aug 24,1918) First born of 9 children to Joseph Chopin (1835-1900) and Marie Heneriette Drosia Derosiers Lafreniere (1832-1914) on May 27, 1856 in St. Joseph,Huron City,Ontario,Canada. When Julia was 3 years old the he family immigrated to Copper Country Bay City in Michigans UP in 1859 where Joseph worked as a Mill Worksman and the couple had 8 more children... 1.Joseph Chopin Jr. (1860-1951) married Phobe Dessert-- 2.Edward Chopin (1866-1925) -- 3.Sarah Chopin(1868-1951) married Andrew Genereaux -- 4.Mary Chopin (1871-1939) married Goerge Papineau --5.Beronica Chopin (1874-1941) -- 6.Catherine Chopin(1858- ) Antoine Robert Sharon--7. Louis Chopin (1864- )-- 8. Matilda Chopin(1872- ). The entire family eventually relocated to Blueberry,WI with the Railroad opening the area to new settlers. Julia met and married her first husband,Harry C Clifford Oct 5 1885 in Fisher,Polk County,Minnesota, and they had one child -- Alice Mable Clifford-Valade (1886-1955) married to Albert Jack LePage of Blueberry,WI. Julia married 2nd husbandJoseph Valade of Blueberry August 14th 1890 in West Superior,Douglas County,Wisconsin; and had 3 more children between 1886 and 1898...Nicholas Joseph Valade Jr (1892-1967) married widow, Amy Svea Mathilda Almquist-Peterson., Mary H J Valade ( 1894-1961 )married Albert Joseph Ethier May 1894 and Oscar Donahue abt 1923: and Irene F Valade (1898-1976) married to Walter James Carlson Sr. Julia passed on August 24, 1918, in Blueberry, at the age of 62. At 60 yrs old and a widower, Joseph is said to have married about 4 or 5 other widows between 1919- 1937. Prior to his death Joseph lived and worked as an attendant, at the Parkland Asyleum in Parkland (just south of Superior,WI) for John M. Waltz (Owner) until his own death in 1937. The couple are buried beside each other in St Annes Cemetery in Blueberry WI. Sadly we know they are there but we can only approximate exactly where-the wooden markers of the day have long since been lost to the elements. It is assumed that it was Julia that passed her cooking abilities to her daughter and grand daughter (Irene Bridge) for which Irene is still very well known for. It is also assumed Irene(Bridge) gained much of her business senses through her Grandpa Valade (Tavern owner/operator) and the Chopin family, who were business owners in Blueberry during her childhood and lifetime.
