BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION PROJECT - SHENGENA MOUNTAINS FOREST Mohispac Foundation is a non-profit organization Registered by the Government to promoting the conservation environment biodiversity hotspot so as to provide sustainable solution to the problem that has driven deforestation and other human threats activities taking place within the forest. The Shengena forest mountains is the largest forest in northern part of Tanzania which is one among of the few natural reserve still remained in Tanzania rich in numerous water springs, animals habitat, reptiles and bird species rare in other parts of the world which needs close protection implied to the promotion of both fauna and flora which attracts many people to visit (tourism) the forest in which it support the lives of more than 300,000 inhabitants living around the forest. Currently, the forest is faced with a number of man-initiated threats. These includes forest fires, encroachment for agriculture, tree felling for wood fuel, building materials (logs, timbers), illegal trees harvesting, which suffocate indigenous species caused by activities taking place illegally within the forest. For this purpose only, a street has been carved into the mountain and its eco-system. The bauxite-company is performing their work illegally – without the consent of the residents to whom the land belongs, according to Tanzanian law – referring to a so-called contract which is full of forged signatures and vague wording. Since June 2012, the company is also violating a ban imposed by the government which was introduced to stop the mining. The exploitation however, continues. The raw material is being brought to the neighboring Kenya and from there, is shipped to Asia which destroys the nature of the forest and its eco-system. The entire region is threatened to dry up if there is no more water flowing from the well. Agriculture would then be impossible. Even now, farmers are complaining of increasingly poor harvests. Their livelihood is threatened by the exploitation. The inhabitants are convinced that only because of corruption all this can continue. Some of them formed a protest group, but without any help, they are powerless against a company that pays a bribe for silence. But now the forest, spring water, natural vegetation, species, wild animals are in danger to disappear due to the fact that deforestation activities is highly taking place within the forest. Therefore, the projects intends to address/advocate man-initiated threats with the view of making a thorough contribution in forest management, environmental education, researches, advocacy, restoring natural vegetations within and around the forest so as to improve their livelihood. But all these wealth of the Nation are imperil to disappear due to the human threats which has caused miserable and disappearing of rare species in the forest. In a participatory method, the project is intending to include other civil society organization by creating capacity building to them so as to widen up the network to other environmental stakeholders and more than four CSO’s located around the targeted project will be involved from the initial stages to the end of the project. Implementing this project will enable the upkeep of rare species available in the forest which are in danger to disappear but to succeed in executing this project will preserve the entirely forest and its biodiversity to the sustainable developments both locally and nationally. This project will help the inhabitants to defend themselves against the obliteration of their land and its riches biodiversity. Due to the above facts, we are looking to the way forward in saving these biodiversity riches and improving the lives of the community found around the forest by implementing this project to the targeted area thus why we are calling upon all good wishers of the environments to join hands with us to save the entirely forest in our project worth $ 150,000 for two years. Furthermore, we are kindly requesting you to find the attachments of our proposing budget. Together We Can Make the World a Better Place to Live “We improve not only our lives but also the lives of our next generations.
