BITTERNESS CAN HINDER YOUR BLESSING There are times when our bitter experiences frustrate our prayers and prohibit our breakthrough. In Exodus 32:19-20 Moses was angry with the people for their worship of a golden calf while he prayed to God on the mountain. He took their idol and burned it and ground the ashes and residue into a powder and poured it into their drinking water. Its bitterness reminded them of their sin. There are many today who have had some bitter experiences in life and cannot seem to let go of them. When they try to pray they bring the ashes of that bitter experience with them. When they pray for their children, they can’t look at them without remembering the bitterness of their Exes. They pray for their spouses but still remember how they hurt us. They pray for their church, but still have a bad feeling about someone in it who has offended them. They pray for their enemies but still have not forgiven them. We can’t get a prayer through because our bitterness has been ground into the fabric of our daily lives. Yet, Christ calls on us to move on with our lives. Didn’t Paul say, “..forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil 3:14) If we try to pray while still in our bitterness, we bring ashes to the altar. So my friends, get rid of your bitterness today and the blessings will start pouring.
