BJP welcomes Jayalalithaa statement on Ayodhya By Our Special Correspondent CHENNAI JULY 29. The BJP has welcomed the Chief Minister Jayalalithaas statement on construction of a Ram temple at Ayodhya. The state unit general secretary, G. Kumaravelu, said Ms. Jayalalithaas uncompromising attitude on national issues deserved praise. We want this to be continued, he said in a statement. She had already stated that a foreigner should not become the Prime Minister of the country and brought in a law against forcible religious conversion. Appreciating the AIADMK leaders support for efforts at enacting a common civil code, Mr. Kumaravelu urged the Congress and the Left parties to give up treating minorities as vote-banks and instead act in the national interest on such matters, taking the example of Ms. Jayalalithaa.
