BLACK PEOPLE ARE OFTENTIMES ACCUSED OF HALLUCINATING RACISM! - TopicsExpress

BLACK PEOPLE ARE OFTENTIMES ACCUSED OF HALLUCINATING RACISM! They are oftentimes told that they read into what is actually not there. But it is this stark denial of the reality of what Blacks go through, daily, unprovoked around the world that exacerbates the problem. Many people dont know that for almost an entire century, the most popular toothpaste in Japan was Darkie toothpaste with its image of a wide eyed, big lipped African-American male on the box, and that this toothpaste was sold as late as the 1980s. Finally enough complaints by Westerners resulted in a name change to Darlie and the packaging being altered to reflect a White American male in a top hat. Think about that--the Japanese would not, of their own initiative, change the name and packaging until they were bombarded long enough and often enough with complaints by people from the United States. Licorice, however, still appears to be a product that engenders the use of derogatory racial stereotypes towards Blacks overseas. Two products currently on the market, Halva Lakritsia from Finland and Tabu in Italy, use a caricature of an African-American people on their packaging. The Italian product even bases its advertising campaign on the conceit of embracing the taboo. The packaging implies that the buyer must be a daring and cutting edge consumer to even purchase a product that makes fun of Black people. Imagine that! smh Why do the Japanese, Italian and Finnish people care absolutely nothing about these profoundly offensive, derogatory racial stereotypes against Black people? What possesses and drives them to do these kinds of things, blatantly and unapologetically? Imus, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Paula Deen, Mel Gibson, Donald Sterling--on and on the list could go of unprovoked racist remarks against Black people. How on Earth, then, are Black people reading into things when they point out the myriad injustices they continually suffer, unprovoked, due to the insidiousness of racism? Racism towards Black people, worldwide, is alive and well in the 21st century. And until Black people rant and rave and make a big enough stink about it equivalent to the furor with which Jews and gays react whenever they are discriminated against, overt racism towards Black people will continue indefinitely. Black people, worldwide, hear the word of the Lord--speak up and speak out against racism until it finally ends or at least goes so far underground it can no longer bring you pain. Real talk!
