BLOATED? READ THIS! Too much or too little of dietary fiber in your diet can have negative effects on your body. You may experience bloating, cramping or gas if you have too much fiber too quickly. Increasing your fiber intake too quickly can lead you to abdominal discomfort. Your body will not have enough time to adjust to extra fiber, therefore the transition should be slow to avoid digestive related problems. Increasing your fiber intake too suddenly can lead to diarrhea. However, too little or insufficient amounts of fiber in the body may create cravings for sugar or high fat foods which can later lead to increase in weight or obesity. Your bowel movements may become hard and difficult to pass through leading to problems like constipation. You develop chances of high cholesterol levels and type II diabetes.
