BLUES & HILLS: The Roberts International Airports arrival looks - TopicsExpress

BLUES & HILLS: The Roberts International Airports arrival looks like the entrance of a cheap guesthouse in Enugu; the Immigration Officers are politely annoying, checking you up and down, asking for your return ticket and blah blah blah. I am amazed at how Liberians are very protective of their country, yet, they have Nigerian and female Indian soldiers (with U.N trucks), positioned everywhere, standing like mannequins. The 45 minute drive on the Robertsfield Highway is smooth, though, but there are so many similarities between Liberia and Nigeria. On that highway, we saw people selling palm wine in bottles and palm kernel and everything else. The weather is same as Nigerias; people are sweating up and down. Banks in Monrovia are, apparently, getting ATM machines in July; the ones you can find in hotels, are only connected to VISA cards and no MASTERCARD. Africa, which way na? Which way to simple life, biko? Kai!
