BOTSWANA NATIONAL ASSEMBLY (THURSDAY 13TH MARCH, 2014) QUESTIONS 1. MR. D. P. MAKGALEMELE, MP. (SHOSHONG): To ask the Minister of Trade and Industry to state:- (i) progress made in the implementation of the Citizen Economic Empowerment (CEE) Policy since its approval by Parliament; (ii) monitoring and evaluation instruments (if any) she has developed in order to ensure its implementation; and (iii) whether given demands by some in business, will she consider developing a CEE Law to guide the many citizen economic empowerment initiatives. (370) 2. MR. B. NTUANE, MP. (GABORONE WEST SOUTH): To ask the Minister of Lands and Housing why some married Civil Servants with large families have been transferred to Gaborone and allocated low cost houses instead of being allocated houses with adequate space. (371) 3. MR. O. MOTLHALE, MP. (SOUTH EAST SOUTH): To ask the Minister of Transport and Communications to brief this Honourable House on the status of the Ramotswa Border bridge project. (379) 4. MR. N. M. MODUBULE, MP. (LOBATSE): To ask the Minister of Health to inform this Honourable House on the outcome of the investigations by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime on the excessive purchase of shrouding materials in the Financial Year 2008/2009 to the tune of P5 281 000.00. (380) 5. MR. B. ARONE, MP. (OKAVANGO): To ask the Minister of Agriculture why crop products from Namibia are not allowed to enter into Botswana via the Mohembo border. (382) 6. MR. W. B. MMOLOTSI, MP. (FRANCISTOWN SOUTH): To ask the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs whether he is aware of the daily overcrowding at the National Registration Office in Francistown; if so:- (i) what is the cause of such overcrowding; and (ii) what will he do to ameliorate this situation. (384) 7. MR. N. M. NGAKA, MP. (LETLHAKENG WEST): To ask the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources if he is aware that the Khudumelapye borehole has a yield of less than 1m3 which results in the village not having water at all or part of the village receiving small amounts of water due to low pressure; if so:- (i) how long has this situation been going on and what will he do about it; and (ii) will it not be cost effective to use the water plant at Sorilatholo and Malwelwe to supply water to Khudumelapye. (385) 8. MAJ. GEN. M. R. PHETO, MP. (KWENENG EAST): To ask the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture:- (i) how many youth projects were approved and funded by his Ministry in the Kweneng East Constituency during the 2013/2014 Financial Year; (ii) to state the total cost of these projects; (iii) how many of these projects are in operation; (iv) how many have collapsed and why; and (v) whether the funds allocated to the Constituency were fully utilised, if not, what was the balance. (386) 9. MR. T. G. HABANO, MP. (NGAMI): To ask the Minister of Agriculture:- (i) how many cattle crossed into the buffalo fence (zone 16) in 2013; (ii) how they crossed the buffalo fence; (iii) whether the buffaloes that crossed the fence were all killed; (iv) to state the method used to dispose of the carcasses if they were shot; (v) if the owners were identified and informed; and (vi) whether his Ministry has plans to prevent the same incident from reoccurring. (387) 10. MR. F. M. M. MOLAO, MP. (TONOTA NORTH): To ask the Minister of Transport and Communications whether he is aware that following increased services at Post Offices throughout the country, the staffing levels were not increased to meet the new trend resulting in long queues and congestion at these facilities; if so, what immediate measures will he take to resolve this situation and when.(388)
