BOTSWANAS BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE LOADING.... Should all go according to Barclays Banks liking, the next premier league season will either be called Barclays Premier League or ABSA Premier League. Barclays were first attracted to the local game before the start of the past season when television giants Supersport signed to televise the Botswana league. They relaxed on their interest when BFA President Tebogo Sebego, Sports Minister Shaw Kgathi and the Office of the President represented by Minister Mokgweetsi Masisi forced the rights back to Botswana Television. The bank then went for Kabelano Charity Cup. Reports say they have renewed their interest, dangling a cheque of P50 million over three years provided Supersport are brought back into the picture. Barclays, who also own the ABSA banks, aim to penetrate the African market and wish to use football and the wide reach of Supersport to achieve their goal. beMOBILE on the other hand have been sponsoring the league for P24 million over the past three years and are reported to be only willing to up the sponsorship package to P30 million over the next three years.
