BRADY CAMPAIGN CALLS ZOMBIE INDUSTRIES "TASTELESS, OFFENSIVE AND OUTRAGEOUS" FOR LATEST "GUN CONTROL LOBBYIST" SHOOTING TARGET Brady Helps Launch Campaign Calling on Amazon to Stop Selling Zombie Industries Products Washington, DC— The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence today called on Zombie Industries to stop selling their latest “tasteless, offensive and outrageous” shooting target they are calling, “Gun Control Lobbyist” zombie. The company had been using a picture of Brady Campaign President Dan Gross and Virginia Tech shooting victim Colin Goddard as part of its marketing ads, but after major outcry, pulled it down. However, the offensive shooting target is still being sold. The Brady Campaign is part of an effort, along with Newtown Action Alliance and The Gun Truth Project, demanding that Amazon remove Zombie Industries products from its website. We are encouraging people to let Amazon know they need to remove these offensive products immediately. Visit this site and make your voice heard: guntruthproject.org/amazombies/home.html. “So many of the Americans who come to Capitol Hill to advocate for common sense gun legislation are victims of gun violence, or have lost a family member to gun violence. This shooting dummy which glorifies more violence is beyond insensitive and outrageous,” said Dan Gross, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. “This company needs to stop selling this product and apologize immediately.” "It is stunning that Amazon would profit from a company that uses a picture of a well-known mass shooting survivor to help promote the idea of shooting other people,” said Dave Ackert Founder and Chairman of the Newtown Action Alliance. “And while Amazon may not sell this particular model from Zombie Industries, I would expect a company run by Jeff Bezos to distance itself from any corporation that would employ such heinous and insensitive marketing practices. We call on Amazon to drop Zombie Industries, quickly." Zombie Industries is the same company, which has created, “bleeding” shooting targets like “The Ex,” a woman in lingerie, and “Rocky,” a green zombie that looks like President Obama. The company had been advertising the “Gun Control Lobbyist” zombie on Facebook, superimposed on a picture of Dan Gross, Colin Goddard, and other victims of gun violence, outside of the White House speaking to media on the issue of gun violence. After pressure from activists and supporters of the Brady Campaign, the photo was removed. “I’ve been shot and so for me, this is personal. I did not appreciate my likeness being used to sell this offensive product. I’m obviously happy they removed my picture, but they also need to stop encouraging violence against people who are advocating for common sense gun violence legislation that is supported by more than 90 percent of all Americans,” said Colin Goddard.
