BREAK-INS, THEFT WORRY JWANENG POLICE Jwaneng police station cmmander has raised a concern over the increasing cases of break-ins and theft of electronic gadgets from people’s vehicles in the mining town. In an interview, Superintendent Theriso Thatayotlhe said since the beginning of June, they recorded eight cases, whereby laptops, cameras and phones were stolen from vehicles. Superintendent Thatayotlhe said criminals used some chemicals to break the windows of the cars and this usually happened around 5 p.m and 11 p.m. He cautioned the public not to leave their valuables inside their vehicles especially where they would be visible to criminals. The station commander also cautioned the public in the mining town, to always tighten their house windows as cases of burglary were also a concern in the town. He said that from June to August, his office had received nine cases of burglary in which laptops and cell phones were stolen.The culprits, he said used a wire with a hook to get to their targeted gadgets. The station commander said that no suspects had been apprehended while police investigations are continuing.Still in Jwaneng, the station commander has applauded motorists and other road users for their good behavior and cooperation with the police in promoting road safety. He noted that there had been a reduction on serious road accidents from three in June to one in July while minor accidents have decreased from 29 to 24 in June and July. Superintendent Thatayotlhe has encouraged motorists to continue with the spirit of cooperation and responsible driving for the realisation of road safety initiatives. (BOPA)
