BREAKING (Ellijay, GA) - Gilmer County Board of Commissioner Randy Bell was found with a gunshot wound to the head by sheriff’s deputies early Tuesday morning, a spokeswoman said. Bell was found breathing and was being airlifted to a hospital, although which one was not immediately available, she added. Earlier, Bell posted this notice on his Facebook page: “At the first of the year I had a stroke. It pretty much wiped out my vision. I can no longer take care of myself or pay my bills. (The bank) is selling my house today so I will be blind and homeless. It’s not worth living this way.” His house was among those being sold at a tax sale on the courthouse steps Tuesday morning, Sept. 3, according to documents. In his Facebook posting, he also asked friends to take care of his pets and noted his belongings should go to his daughter. Watch for updates as the Times-Courier follows this story.
