BREAKING LOCAL NEWS: The man who allegedly stabbed an 11-year-old boy on a Topsail soccer field last night is now facing a charge of attempted murder in addition to other charges. 19-year-old Nicholas Layman allegedly jumped from the stands, ran at the boy, stabbed him in the neck with a knife, and took off in a car. He is also charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. Layman said nothing as he was lead to court by Sheriffs Officers for his first appearance. Layman was sent for a psychiatric assessment this morning.
