BREAKING NEWS: 12 Filmmakers in Enid have now generated enough money to make their documentary titled “Remember the Sultana.” With the help of almost 800 supporters, the Kickstarter campaign has now gone over the $88,000 needed to make the documentary with almost two days left. If you would like to donate, they are still taking donations at rememberthesultana. Enid natives Mike Marshall and Jeff Hoopingarner are helping make the documentary and it will be filmed in Enid. Hoopingarner is directing the documentary and is the owner of Raptor Media Group. Marshall is one of the producers on the project. The Sultana was a steamboat on the Mississippi River that exploded at the end of the Civil War which resulted in the largest maritime disaster in U.S. history. One of the Executive Producers on this documentary is Actor Sean Astin who starred in, “Rudy,” “The Lord of the Rings,” and “The Goonies.”
