BREAKING NEWS: The opposition to Measure 92 has led an EXTREMELY misleading campaign, but it appears they’ve crossed the line into outright lying. In their newest ad, found here: youtu.be/KRM_XgTaoLM?list=PLKOgEnjkNzzle3-GbiAaoBz8wcWXn1N2l, they cite a taxpayer cost estimate from the Department of Administrative Services that claims enforcing Measure 92 will cost taxpayers $14 million per legislative session. That number has been rejected definitively by the state. The Secretary of State, State Treasurer and the Department of Administrative Services Director all analyzed the issue as part of the state financial impact committee and – despite the direct appeals of Measure 92 opponents – rejected the $14 million cost claim and did not incorporate it into their fiscal analysis. After opponents sued on a technicality and had the fiscal analysis reopened, the committee rejected the $14 million claim a second time. The final state financial impact committee statement estimated that Measure 92 would require a one-time cost of around $550,000 to $600,000 (or less than 15 cents per Oregonian) with future costs if any indeterminate.
