BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF MALAM AMINU IBRAHIM RINGIM== Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim Ringim was born in 1956 in Ringim town and began his educational career at Katutu Primary School Ringim from 1963 to 1970 and proceeded to Teachers Collage Gumel from 1971 to 1976. Aminu was employed as a class room teacher after his teacher training in 1976 and for his hard work and resiliency he was promoted to the rank of Headmaster within the same year and continued a position he held up to 1980. Aminu Ibrahim had a successful stewardship as Headmaster, as result, thoughts of advancing his career in education become evident. He underwent a one year course at the Pivotal Teachers Collage which is akin to remedial studies as widely known. The results qualified him to be admitted into the Kano State Collage of Education where he studied NCE, majoring in English/History in 1982. In 1983 he joined politics and contested and won a seat for membership of the Federal House of Representatives. After the military coup of December 1983 which truncated the second Republic, the young Aminu returned to his hometown Ringim, to engage in private business. In 1991 during General Ibrahim Badamsi Babangida’s transition to civil rule, he rejoined the political arena and pitched his tent with the social Democratic party (SDP) and the party having won elections appointed him as Commissioner of Agriculture under the leadership of Barrister Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu from 1991 to 1993 when the Government lasted but in 1995 he was appointed the state deputy chairman of the defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) but with the demise of former Head of state, General Sani Abacha in June 1998 political parties were disbanded. However when the leadership of General Abdulsalami Abubakar took over and later lifted the ban on partisan politics Aminu Ibrahim joined his political soul mates to form new political parties and as a pioneer member of the All Peoples Party (APP) in the state, he played significant role towards the party winning the state Governorship seat in 1999 and was compensated as commissioner for Engineering and Infrastructure and later moved to State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) from 2002 to 2003 as chairman. In 2003 he was redeployed to Government House as chief of staff of former Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki. The May 2007 elections saw the emergence of erstwhile foreign affairs minister, Alhaji Sule Lamido as Governor of Jigawa state and he re- appointed Aminu Ibrahim as his chief of staff, the position he still retains. He was chairman and member of various committees including the State Electoral Reform committee set- up by the State Government for the articulation of a common position for the people of the State and attended conferences, among of which is the constitutional conference of February, 2005. #BK_BIRNIWA
