BRING THE NOISE - BOYS CLUB WORKS A year ago Tumut Shire Council was awarded a NSW state funded Youth Opportunities grant to run the Bring The Noise Rehearsal space at the Boys Club Hall. Part of this funding was committed to the acoustic refurbishment of the Boys Club Hall (completed last December) and a new storage area to store the project’s equipment behind the stage. In October last year Tumut Shire Council was also successfully awarded a NSW Community Building Partnerships grant to help cover any additional refurbishment costs. All of these improvements to the Boys Club have been covered by both the state government grants mentioned above. It’s looking fantastic and will greatly improve the functionality of the hall. Equipment will be stored safely and conveniently in an easy to access area, and there will also be an open room backstage for any performers to access. New curtains to replace the old ripped ones at the front of the stage are currently being sourced. We hope they will be installed by the end of the month once the right vendor to fit them has been selected. Since the beginning of the Bring The Noise youth project, the use of the Boys club hall has steadily increased. The hall is now used every Thursday, Friday and alternate weekends by local young bands and musicians. We have regular users who are benefitting from the project as it gives them access to a space designed to further develop their creative and musical skills. We are holding a local music evening on Saturday the 5th of July at the Boys Club titled Live from the Pit (‘The Pit’ is what members of the project decided to nick name the rehearsal space). The community is invited to come and see the work that has happened at the hall, and more importantly see how much our local talent is being encouraged by this venue. We welcome all to come along to this night of local live music. Book in the 5th of July!!!
