BROOKLYN NETS 2012-13 Record: 49-33 Key Additions: Kevin Garnett, Andrei Kirilenko, Shaun Livingston, Paul Pierce, Mason Plumlee, Jason Terry. Key Losses: MarShon Brooks, Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace. Analysis: The Nets and president Mikhail Prokhorov has done an outstanding job in building a title contending team during the off season. It’s hard not to be excited about the list Brooklyn has put together, with star veterans Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett adding scoring power and very important depth to a team that was already a playoff lock. It was also quite a clever pick they made in the draft by acquiring big man Mason Plumlee from Duke University. He is a very athletic, defensive minded power forward/centre who has the luxury of hitting mid-range jumpers. The only question mark surrounding this outfit is the appointment of Jason Kidd as head coach, straight out of a playing career. It’s a bit risky in the sense that he has zero experience as a head coach, but now he has the responsibility of guiding an ageing and veteran team towards a title run. With such a talented roster, we expect them to do very well and go deep into the playoffs. Predictions: A record of 53-29, resulting in a 4th placing in the Eastern Conference, and a 2nd placing in the Atlantic Division.
