BRTV NEWS: posted by arewa 07031200094 5th SEPT, 2013 HOUSE: The Borno State House of Assembly today adjourned sitting to Thursday next week due to lack of quorum. Assembly correspondent Baba Kura Modu reports that only three out of the twenty eight legislators attended today’s session presided over by the Deputy Speaker. This would have been the third sitting of the House since its resumption from the Ramadan break. The Majority whip Baba Ali Modu who moved a motion for the adjournment said it is in line with the standing order to adjourn a sitting when there is no quorum. He said there are two standing committees of the House that on assignments outside the state while the speaker was leading a delegation of the House to an International Commonwealth Parliamentary session in South Africa. In an interview the Deputy Speaker Inusa Danlami Kubo said the state is expected to benefit a lot from the Commonwealth Parliamentary session where issues affecting commonwealth nations discussed. OBITUARY: The death has been announced of Engineer John Daniel Dawha a retired Director with the Borno State Agricultural Development Programme.. Aged fifty seven, Mr. Dawha died at an Indian Hospital while on admission. He is survived by an aged mother, his wife Pindar John Dawha, five children, brothers and sisters. Among them is Engineer Tabita Mshelbwala of Federal Inland Revenue Service Abuja. His remains will arrive Maiduguri tomorrow and burial service comes up at EYN church Polo while internment will hold at Kirbutu in Hawul local government. AYEMU LAWAN GWASHA The member representing Damboa in the State House of Assembly, Ayemu Lawan Gwasha has expressed his gratitude to Governor Kashim Shettima for promptly assisting the people of Damboa who were affected by insurgency. In a statement today the Assembly man said he is conveying the gratitude and appreciation of people of his constituency to the Governor for his concern to their plight and his untiring efforts to restore peace and stability in the state. Alhaji Ayemu Lawan Gwasha also commiserated with the Governor over the death of his step mother and prayed Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest. SULTAN This year’s airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia scheduled to begin next week would formally commence from Maiduguri, Borno State capital. The Sultan of Sokoto and National Amirul Hajj, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’ad Abubakar said this yesterday at a stakeholders meeting in Abuja. This he said was for obvious reason of identifying with out brothers and sisters in the state. He said arrangements have been concluded to ensure a smooth and hitch free operations explaining that the Shehu of Borno would lead this year’s team to Saudi Arabia. The Sultan urged all stakeholders to give maximum support to team leader saying it is a collective responsibility of everybody to ensure a successful Hajj for all Nigerians. As Muslims get set for this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia said it has spent $27 billion on renovation in and around Makkah to facilitate smooth exercise. Also the Saudi government said it is now ready to receive pilgrims in the Holy Land. Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Nigeria fund Rajeh told newsmen that the procedure to receive pilgrims from all over the world is ready. The procedures include those by coordinating government agencies like customs, immigration and the police. KAGA The Chairman of Kaga Local government council Alhaji Bunu Kaigama has inspected the construction of Benisheikh Maternity Clinic. Inspecting the Maternity Clinic project, Alhaji Kaigama expressed satisfaction with plan and structure put in place for the construction work. He assured the council’s readiness to complete the project within three weeks and equip it with all necessary facilities for its smooth take off. Alhaji Bunu Kaigama restated the council’s commitment to provide basic amenities to the people of the area particularly health care delivery service and water supply. The Caretaker Chairman acknowledged the effort of the Deputy Director Works Mallam Modu Sanda in supervising the project to ensure quality work. Conducting the Caretaker Chairman round the project, the Deputy Director Works said the project is in accordance with the proposed plan and with strict compliance of its specification. He assured the Chairman of his commitment to ensure that quality work is done. Also speaking Yakubu Zanna Ballama and Alhaji Goni Yawa commended the Caretaker Chairman for embarking on the project adding the reappointment of Alhaji Bunu Kaigama as Caretaker Chairman has brought remarkable developments in the area. LECTURE Intending pilgrims for this year’s hajj have been enjoined to be good ambassadors of the country while in Saudi Arabia. Director Administration Borno State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Amira Inna Baba Bukar gave the advice today in a lecture organized by the Committee on Hajj Women Matters Borno State chapter. Correspondent Babagana Bukar Tanda reports that the lecture took place at the El-kanemi College of Islamic Science and Theology, Maiduguri. Amira Inna Baba Bukar said since Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, it is binding on every intending pilgrim to adhere to the rules and regulations of the religious function. She advised intending women pilgrims to ensure that they are physically healthy before embarking on the pilgrimage and desist from acts that will void their hajj particularly interacting with men. Speaking in the same vein a member with Da’awah unit of the Pilgrims Welfare Board Malama Hadiza Abubakar Maina advised intending pilgrims to love one another and pray for lasting peace to prevail in the country while in the holy land. The State Coordinator Hajj Women Matters Hajja Adama Ibrahim called on pilgrims while in the holy land to always contact the hajj committee members on issues that are not clear to them. The lecture featured demonstration of some vital things to do during the pilgrimage.
