BRTV NEWS: posted by arewa 2347031200094 21ST SEPT 2013 CALL: The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garbai El-Kanemi has again called parents to avail their children for immunization against polio and other related child killer diseases. Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garbai El-Kanemi made the call while addressing traditional rulers on the need to mobilize their subjects to partake in all immunization programmes for healthy growth of the future generation. Addressing the traditional rulers, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi told them to use their influence in their respective domains to mobilize their subjects to accept all immunization programmes for the benefit of the young ones. Parents he said owe it a duty to ensure the healthy growth and development of their children. Children being future leaders he noted must be protected against diseases adding that sound moral training and child development is a collective responsibility. The Shehu who acknowledged the commitment of the State Government and Health Personnel enjoin all stakeholders to contribute to the on-going immunization programme with renewed commitment. ATTACK: Twenty seven people are confirmed dead in two separate attacks by unidentified gunmen in Fulatari and Kanumburi wards of Gamboru town in Ngala local government. The attacks took place on Wednesday the twenty eight of August and Thursday the twelfth of this month. The first attack occurred about eleven o’clock in the evening while the second was carried out last Thursday at about ten o’clock in the evening. In the first attack six people were killed while four others sustained injuries in Fulatari while twenty one people lost their lives in the second attack including the Village Head of Gamboru “A” Lawan Ali Shettima with two others sustaining bullet injuries and are now receiving treatment. The Caretaker Chairman of Ngala Alhaji Modu Gana Bukar Sherriff has paid condolence visit to families of those who lost their lives. Visibly shaken by the carnage the Chairman described the attacks as heinous crime against humanity which must be condemned by all right thinking persons. He enjoined relatives of those killed to take solace in Allah with fortitude over the loss and prayed Allah to grant the deceased eternal peace. The Chairman presented one hundred thousand naira and four bags of rice to each family of the victims. The Chairman has also donated five hundred thousand naira and two hundred bags of rice to the Civilian JTF who also lost their colleagues in the attack. He assured them of his continued support at all time and urged them not to relent in their efforts towards protecting lives and property of the people. Responding the Chairman of Civilian JTF Jibrilla Adamu expressed gratitude to the Council chairman saying the attack will not deter them from protecting the people instead it will encourage them to confront their enemies head on. The Chairman also used the forum to distribute over two thousand four hundred bags of Rice donated by the state government to people of the area to cushion hardship of the people caused by the crisis. He appealed to the people of the area to support civilian JTF and the laudable policies and programmes of Governor Kashim Shettima and cooperate with security personnel. Alhaji Modu Gana Bukar Sheriff also enjoined the people not to relent in their prayers for peace. As part of measures to strengthen security in the area, the Caretaker Chairman immediately summoned a security meeting with the JTF Commander, the Divisional Police Officer and Traditional Rulers to chart a new course on how best to avert future occurrence of such attacks in the area. ROAD Access road plays an integral role in the development of economic and social activities of any community. In this report, correspondent Bulama Yerima takes a look at the significance of access road to development with particularly reference to Kala-Balge Local Government. Movement of goods and services will always be tedious and time consuming without access road. One area in Borno bedeviled with problem of access road is Kala-Balge. The problem of lack of road in the area is particularly compounded during rainy season. Majority of communities in Kala-Balge resort to Canoes, Horse, Donkeys and pave ways to move from one place to the other during the rainy season. Even the council chairman resorts to such means of transportation to go round communities in his local government. Since its creation twenty one years ago the top most request of the people of Kala-Balge has been access road, followed by anti snake venom because of the high prevalence of snake bites. Successive administrations have made attempts to come to the aid of the people of Kala-Balge but to no avail. However all hope is not lost, as the administration of Governor Kashim Shettima has vowed to proffer solution to this teething problem that had defied all efforts in the past. CLEARING The State Government has been urged to fence the premises of the Gwange grave yard and provide security. The Chairman of the Borno State Joint Islamic Uniform Voluntary Organizations Malam Shehu Surajo made the appeal today shortly after the yearly clearing exercise of the grave yard organized by the organization. According to Malam Surajo some portions of the grave yard is not fence, hence the need to do so and provide adequate security. He enumerated some of their problems which include working tools transportation and appealed to government to provide employment for their teeming members as their work is purely humanitarian. The Chairman however thanked Governor Kashim Shettima and his wife Hajiya Nana Shettima for their support to the cause of Islam. Other members of the organization in their separate remarks thanked the Commissioner for Religious Affairs Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa for his support and called on members of the public to contribute their activities. The Secretary of the organization Lawan Mohammed Ngoshe thanked all those who contributed to the success of the clearing exercise. The Borno State Joint Islamic Uniform Voluntary Organizations is the umbrella of six Islamic uniform voluntary organizations in the state which include Annahdah, Izala, Jama’atul Tajdidil Islam, Nasirul Islam, Munazzamah and Fityanul Islam. This year’s exercise was also supported by similar organizations from Yobe who are in the state for the hajj exercise. HADCON: Hadcon Educational Centre Maiduguri has commenced the sales of admission forms for 2013/12014 academic session. A statement signed by the Institution’s Director Musa Mohammed Imam said the admission forms are for Diploma programmes, Arabic and English for beginners as well as Nursery and Primary section. The statement advised interested applicants to check the institution at No 2 Damboa Road beside School of Nursing from Thursday to Monday at 9.am to 3pm to obtain the forms.
