BS that stinks to high heaven Tabloids that carry periodical stories from gaming outlets that their jackpot had been broken, are unknowingly-perceived as aiding and abetting in a misdemeanor. As international gaming laws require the compulsory identification of all major winners via the electronic-media, local gaming companies appear to be getting away scot-free on the grounds of safety and security of the winning punters. In more developed countries, the above argument wouldnt hold any water at all. Winning punters are supposed to make arrangements to provide for themselves whatever security thats required. Hence, the situation here is open to wanton abuse and manipulation which explains why the winners location is always general and NOT specified. For example, if he/she is from Kuching, its always announced as Sarawak. Similarly, if its Ipoh, it will be announced as Perak. Perhaps a way to deter people from checking out if their neighbor suddenly decides to renovate, upgrade the old car, move to more upmarket location or simply immigrate to so-called greener pastures. Could the periodical announcement via press done only to create a stampede at the gaming counters? Could this be due to the fact that are actually no winners or perhaps company cronies are used to placate the accounting-books? If this is true, then it must be a masterstroke of a ploy to deceive the thousands of dream-chasers who will not only be chasing their fantasies to their graves but also replenish the coffers of the unscrupulous operators. As for the gaming companies in question, the relevant authorities should throw the book at them to get their operations to a more transparent level. If the identification criteria is not met, then they are contravening gaming laws. Period.
