BSNL to enter into agreement with two state owned companies of Bangladesh. As per media reports, BSNL is to enter into an agreement with two state owned telecom companies of Bangladesh, viz., Bangladesh Telecommunications Co. Ltd (BTCL) and Bangladesh Subamarine Cable Co. Ltd (BSCCL), to establish optical fibre cable connectivity between India and Bangladesh. This decision is taken in a meeting held at Dhaka on 30.07.2013, between the govt. officials of the two countries. As per reports, BSNL plans to lease nearly 100 gigabytes of international bandwidth from the two Bangladeshi companies, to route a chunk of itโ€™s overseas call and data traffic. This agreement will reduce BSNLโ€™s dependence on Tata Communications for routing itโ€™s international traffic.
