BTSHP Matriculates 2014/2015 Batch of Students Some 122 newly admitted students into the Baptist Training School for Health Personnel (BTSHP) for the 2014/2015 academic year have been called upon to consider their profession as a vocation. The Divisional Officer (DO) for Kumbo Central Subdivision, Mr. Nkamto Francis was speaking while presiding over the matriculation ceremony of the school at the Banso Baptist Hospital Chapel on January 17, 2015. The DO reminded the health personnel in training of the fact that society largely depends on their services and told them to be welcoming to the patients. In an academic discourse, the Director of CBC Health Services, Prof. Tih Pius Muffih expatiated on the topic, “Evolution of CBC Health Services from 1975 to date: challenges, lessons learned and the way forward.” As one of the ways forward, he stressed on the need for dedicated and committed personnel who understand the mission statement of the CBC Health Services. The Director of Health Services described the BTSHP as the factory that manufactures all the personnel for the organization. He said over the years the school has continued to produce quality nurses, midwives, laboratory and pharmacy staff needed in the CBC Health Services. BTSHP Principal, Mr. Nkwan Jacob Gobte, presented the students who were being admitted into the school as follows; 68 Nursing Assistants, 14 Advanced Practice Nursing Assistants, 14 Pharmacy Assistants, 9 Dental Assistants, 6 In-service Midwives and 11 Biomedical Assistants. He stated that five other programmes will be starting in February 2015. After saying the matriculation oath, the BTSHP Principal declared the students officially admitted into the school before they proceeded to sign the admission registers. Created as a grade II Midwifery School in 1955, the school has gone through a series of changes and is today known as BTSHP. It can boast of 10 departments and 27 programmes and from inception the school has graduated a total of close to 2000 trainees who are serving with the CBC Health Services and beyond.
