BUSHFIRE OVERVIEW The Country Fire Service (CFS) in South Australia says 12 homes and 24 sheds have been destroyed in bushfires since last Tuesday, with more than 425,000ha burnt across the state. On Monday evening the CFS said only one fire in SA - at Bangor in the Southern Flinders Ranges - was ongoing. That blaze had burned about 20,000ha, the CFS said. Other fires including at Eden Valley and Riverland were now contained, the organisation said. It said the Riverland Complex fire, including Billiat and Calperum, were now listed as controlled and posed no threat to lives or property. Property losses are still being assessed but there have been 12 homes and 24 sheds destroyed from fires over the same period, the CFS said in a statement. Its estimated that 425,000 hectares of grass and scrubland has burnt across various parts of the State since last Tuesday, it said. It said that in the past 24-hours more than 2,600 CFS personnel had been working at the states fires. Fire crews from NSW, Victoria and Western Australia also traveled to SA to help fight the bushfires. The latest fires also showed the importance of the Internet in getting the message out to people. The CFS said that since January 14 the CFS website recorded 121 million hits, 2.65 million page views and had one million visits.
