BW SPORT: HAS GUNNERS, GHODRATI PARTNERSHIP COLLAPSED? Anastacia Sibanda reporting for BOPA The much anticipated deal between Extension Gunners and the Ghodrati family seems to have collapsed. The team’s chairperson, Kitso Dlamini said in an interview that the deal was supposed to be signed on June 9, but the Ghodratis never showed up. Therefore, he said management regarded the much-talked about deal as a non-starter and they would now focus on running their team. Dlamini said management had an obligation to run the team and satisfy their supporters, therefore they were not going to focus on one thing for long. “There is Kabelano Charity Cup and pre-season preparation that seriously needs our attention, focusing on one thing can be dangerous for our team,” he said. He further noted that they thought both parties negotiated in good faith, but he said the Ghodratis seemed to have dumped them. Quizzed if it was true that there was a clause that Extension Gunners was uncomfortable with, Dlamini said a certain clause that was initially in the Memorandum of Agreement was excluded in the contract they were supposed to sign. He said the confusion was later cleared and they were prepared to move forward. However, according to Dlamini, the Ghodratis somersaulted saying there was a clause that they were not comfortable with. Hence, not turning up for the signing. He said all was not lost given that they would soon unveil something, which he did not elaborate on. Efforts to contact Daruosh Ghodrati was not successful as his mobile phone was off.
