BY David Akata #Nigeria 2015 Project #2015Kwankwaso RMK is a leader with notable exceptions. He applies network leadership model, an inverse theory of pyramid model, that inspires others to take better decisions and operate with uniformity of purpose. All with the aim to achieve a well defined goal. Everyone is part of the vision, keeping their eyes on the big picture, without taking the little things for granted Thats why RMK is succeeding beyond all reasonable expectation by inspiring those under his leadership environment, identifying their talent quotient and harnessing same towards societal development. It is no silver-bullet magic that RMK has galvanized Kano people to believe in a renaissance of the Kano dream, unlike others who show a growing contempt for the have-nots. As a man with benign but resolute attributes, he is not the type of passive figurehead who offers tepid excuses that collides with and reverses the critical tenets of his oath of commitment to govern He plans for progress and he knows that when it comes, it inevitably brings its own distributive demands. Therefore, when Kano pillar won the Nigeria premiership twice consecutively, it came as no surprise to those knowledgeable about Kwankwaso accelerated but targeted investments in Kano state sports and youth development sector. RMK might not be MKO when it comes to football but he is certainly not the handshake only leader either. He knows the nexus between sports and integration, economic, political and national development, It takes an almost heroic act of denial to look at Kano pillars football club today and not see a success story (three premier league titles in a row), a vindication of getting value for the right mix of irreversible investments. With the current atmosphere charged with religious and provincial division, stoked by mischievous bigots, Kwankwaso is he right guy to jump-start the initiative of using sports as a tool to promote our unity in diversity because sports is religion, colour and ethnicity blind. Gov Kwankwaso Splashes 28 Cars On Kano Pillars — Jun 8, 2014 Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State in fulfilment of his pledge has given out 28 brand new Corolla saloon cars, and cash gifts to players and officials of Kano Pillars FC, for winning the 2012/2013 Nigeria Premier League title for the second consecutive time. The governor also donated assorted sporting equipment and cash, valued at over N175.5 million to football clubs from across the 44 local government areas of the State. Other outstanding athletes that received cash gifts from the government are members of the state contingent to the National Sports Festival, officials and team members of the state Para soccer team, the state contingent to the 6th National School Sports Festival and two indigenes of Kano who are members of the National Handball team, that won the bronze medal at the World under 21 Handball championship in Mexico. Presenting the donation at a ceremony held at the Government House lawn in Kano, the governor said the government’s resolve was as a result of its realisation of the role of sports in economic, political and national development, besides its centrality to physical and psychological wellbeing. “We are happy that our investment (in sports) has started bearing fruits as evidenced by the significant success so far recorded by the various teams and athletes that represented the state in national and international competition Source: leadership newspaper
