Baba Muktananda: LeTTer tO gOd, siGned AmericA ~ In 1976 when Baba Muktanandas second world tour came to an end, there was an enormous two-day farewell celebration at the DeVille Siddha Yoga Dham in Catskill`New-york in USA. Babas work in America was lauded, and people thanked Baba over and over again for the grace he had bestowed on them. At the end of the celebration a letter addressed to God and signed, America was read. This letter was brought from the South Fallsburg Post Office who had got this letter but did not know where to deliver it. So, they gave it to the Ashram authorities asking them to give it to the Swami, who they were sure would know Gods address. ~ The letter read: Dear God, We wish to offer our thanks as a nation for Your gift to us in the form of Your great Siddha being, Baba Muktananda... He came in April, 1974, and stayed in a quiet neighborhood in Piedmont, near Oakland. A handful of boys and girls gathered around him... and as the gathering grew, we all became more aware of the magnitude of his mission, the greatness of Your gift to us, dear Lord. He traveled over the entire face of this vast land, touching the hearts of all people, from the simplest and lowliest to the doctors, scientists, and teachers of Americas brilliance... He walks among us, touching us with his feather-wand, touching us with his hand, awakening our inner love for You... So many thousands, Lord, have learnt to listen to Your wisdom whispering within and to cast off fear.. Dear God, he is Your very Self in the form of love. And you have given him such power to awaken others and to hasten their journey to You, their true Self. What gift is greater than this? ...In him we see the highest form of man on earth. In him we see divinity, perfection in all his deeds, perfection in his word. This humble man, this radiant being whom we love and call Baba, may Your hand uphold him, Lord. May he walk this land again. And may we open our hearts with Love to him, with gratitude and willingness to serve, for, 0 God, we know that men like him are rare. Only through your kindest wish to us do such men appear on earth. Dear God, we thank you for Your presence here in Babas form... May he live forever. We love him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In his farewell message, Baba thanked his American devotees and said, For two and a half years you gave me very good support in my work. Because of your ceaseless help, great renunciation, austerity, patience, and enthusiasm, I have been able to accomplish my work in America very easily. I did not meet with any obstacle, harassment, or impediment. This is all the result of your good wishes. You looked after everything very well. In helping me with my work you never bothered to see whether it was night or day, you never cared about your future. You remained absorbed in your work with joy and contentment. You are my own. It seems as if Sri Ramas army of monkeys has been born again in human form to further the work of Siddha Yoga with me. I do not look upon you as my devotees or disciples. I consider you all sisters and brothers in the family of my #Nityananda Baba, who have joined me to do this work. I do not know how two and a half years have passed. I thank you all for this. I have only one thing to tell you. Always remember that God is within you, and that the Guru is always with you. Do not worry. Be happy. Be joyful. Always remember God. Repeat Gods divine name day and night. I am with you all. You are me, and I am you.
