Baba update: Baba continues to doze, as if hes heavily sedated, but hes not. No overt response to stimulation, but today when Ma sang him some of his favourite songs, his breathing visibly quickened. He even looked like he was struggling to open his eyes, and did manage a brief flicker. So Ma continued to sing him his favourite songs (beautifully as always, though emotionally charged) and we told about Maya Mitter s imminent arrival in just a few days and todays news that his grandson Jay Mitter is also planning a visit from Singapore soon. I know he hears us all right and is hanging in there, just waiting for them to get here. He has been moved to the lower-intensity-monitoring HDU from the ICU last night. He still has the oxygen tube just in case ... but hes breathing on his own and maintaining the required O2/CO2 levels , so if things remain stable we can move him to a private room in a day or two, where any one person can stay with him 24 hours, and hopefully by the time Maya gets here, we will be spending more time with him. Thank you all for your continued concern, love and support, especially Surupa Roy and Kushal Roy in whose home weve been staying these past 6 weeks, and without whom we would not have made it this far.
