Babylyn V. Bautista-Felix – Outstanding Scholar and Achiever (New designation: LLI Philippe Chief Coordinator) by Freddie Tividad Tesalona, LLI Founder & Executive Director LLI News & Advisory, July 31, 2014 Babylyn Viana Bautista-Felix from Barangay Tagbac, Lubang, has expressed her desire to be replaced as president of the LLI College Scholars Association or LLICSA. Belen, as she’s called by many, has served past her normal 2-year term with distinction. The election of the new set of LLICSA officers is coming soon this year. Belen’s performance as LLICSA president is clearly outstanding. Her dedication to the demanding position is beyond question. We all could be proud of LLICSA’s accomplishment under her watch assisted by her fellow officers from the alumni and undergraduate ranks. Add also the valuable support she and the LLICSA received from Jericho Viguilla Felix, her friendly and supportive husband. What makes Belen shine in LLICSA and in other settings is her pleasing and engaging personality. Her big smile and soft voice, not to mention her grace, talent and kindness, make her stand out as a leader, mentor, organizer, author, entrepreneur, scholars’ sponsor, and achiever overall in her relatively young career. She deserves the deep respect of her fellow scholars, including mine. Barangay Tagbac, Lubang, is home to a host of LLI college scholars who, in their own right, continue to distinguish themselves in academics, co-curricular activities, professional engagement, and community service. Besides Belen, they include Cristine D. Morales, Randy L. Bautista, Ronne C. Taneca, Dr. Jake Viana, Lloyd T. Tulaylay, Andy Tagumpay, Reynan Tamayosa, and others. Her LLI college scholarship was sponsored by Tawel & Annette Abeleda of Elmont, New York. Belen is the daughter of Alfredo Bautista and the former Josefina Viana. She’s a product of Tagbac Elementary School and Lubang Vocational High School (Main) where she received third honorable honors. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in secondary education with dual major in mathematics and Filipino, she proceeded to complete her masteral degree in arts and science in education, major in Filipino, at the National Teachers College, Manila. She’s currently a full-time College Instructor II at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila where she is also the adviser to “Pananaliksik sa Wika at Panitikan I & II, College of Human Development; co-chairman of the College Research Committee, College of Liberal Arts; and volunteer faculty, Alternative Learning Program. Addition to her full-time college teaching load, Belen is also the directress of the Leitmeritz Preschool and Tutorial Center, Pasay City. Already a published author of a reference book in Filipino language, Belen is a writer in preschool, elementary and high school books at the Victorious Publishing House and Library Publishing House, Quezon City. Belen’s professional affiliation includes being a member of the National Organization of Professional Teachers, Inc., Manila; Sanggunian sa Filipino (SANGFIL), UP Diliman; and Pambansang Samahan sa Linggwistika at Literaturang Filipino, Metro Manila. LLI Philippine Chief Coordinator The new designation of Babylyn V. Bautista-Felix as the LLI Philippine Chief Coordinator takes effect immediately. In this role, she will assist the Executive Director manage and coordinate the college scholarship program in the Philippines and the annual Christmas food gift for the poor project (Pamaskong Handog). The whole LLI family wishes Belen success in her new LLI role and in her other current and future endeavors.
