Back a few hours ago from a Vipassana 10 Day Meditation Retreat. Here are the facts.... 1. 9 and a bit days in Noble Silence - no talking, no looking at, no gesturing to any other student meditators (could talk to the course manager or assistant teacher only if needed) I reckon I was silent 98% of the time. 2. Averaged around 8.5 to 9.5 hours meditation a day. 3 Awake around 17-18 hours a day. 4am wake-up call every morning. Work started at 4.30am. If you read that and thought I could never do that. Take a moment...... you could if you wanted to, you really could. If I can do it, you definitely can. It just takes some surrendering to the process and a lot of determination. I have one word to describe the experience.... EPIC! Ive been on many courses that have pushed me. As far personal growth and spiritual development goes, nothing.........NOTHING comes close to the battles I faced, the limits I reached and the things I felt. This course blows them ALL out of the water. The course was mostly experiential. Meaning we were DOING the practice nearly all the time. I looooooove that. Not much intellectualising, MUCH action was taken. And because of that many realisations were had. Now my own journey starts to find MY own truth. I have just scratched the scratch. Im extremely excited Ive planted the seed. Now I shall see what happens :) One huge thing I love about the Vipassana technique its exactly that... a technique. Non sectarian, no gods, no religious dogma, no rites or rituals, its totally UNIVERSAL and taught in that way. ANYONE who wants to take the course CAN :) Its for anyone who wants to walk a lifetime path to master their mind and live a life of peace, love and compassion for themselves and towards others. How much is it you ask? As much as youd like to donate at the end. Just beautiful!
