I always point out when something like Soccer Aid is on to tug at your heart strings. These kind of things were taking place to raise funds for Africa when I was a nipper to try and eradicate Poverty, Famine, Medicines and aids. Now yer talking that was near 40 years ago, what is Soccer Aid trying to raise money for??? Poverty, Famine, Medicines and Aids....sound familiar? Nothing you give will change the overall picture on the African continent while the I.M.F (International Monetary Fund)swings The Sword of Damocles above it, former dictators of the African nations having taken out massive loans with diamond mines as collateral, they have long defaulted on their debts and the diamond mines are now in foreign hands and hence no real capital within the countries to feed, clothe or care for its citizens. So even if this Soccer Aid raises in excess of 5 or 6 million it is a drop in the ocean for what an entire continent not just one country, with sanctions against it is ever going to need. In effect this is a stealth tax, simple as that. P.S as long as people keep giving they will still be asking for your money to eradicate Poverty, Famine and Aids in another 40 years.
