Back at home in Singapore after a highly productive and musically satisfying tour of Europe of concerts, Club Gigs and recording sessions. Thank you to all the great musicians I got to play with in the order of tour, Eugene Pao, Hong Chanutr Techatananan, Melissa Tham, Manuel Marchès, Julian Getreau, Hidéhiko Kan, Alan Barnes, Calum Gourlay, Tony Lakatos, Axel Schlosser, Rudi Engel and Jens Bunge. Also to tour manager Varian Monteiro, tech director Sunil Kumar (for the London shows). Without you guys, we would be lost. Special thank you to all our hosts and venue partners, to His Excellency Swiss Ambassador to France and his wife, Bernardino and Maria Cristina Regazzoni for presenting us at his official residence in Paris, to the organizers of the EFG London Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scotts, The Queen Elizabeth Hall at Southbank in London, Peter Schillbach at the Camera in Wiesbaden and Eugen Hahn at the Jazzkeller in Frankfurt (the last two shows were the inaugural shows of the Asia-Europe Jazz All-Stars). A big thank you to all the people who came to our shows, some travelled far and changed plans to be with us. And to John, Claire, Sarah, Amy, Mark, Ruth and others who looked after us in London and also our driver Phil of the EFG London Jazz, thanks for having me there for the third time in five years at the festival and commissioning me to write and original piece for the festival. And to our amazing recording engineers Klaus Endel and Martin Endel for our great recording session at Sound & More Studios for Melissa Thams debut album. Soon, in a few days, time to get ready for the 10th Edition of the Jazzy Christmas concert series at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 20th December. But first, Ill catch my breath, sleep, attend my dear nephews wedding in KL this weekend and sleep some more.
