Back from Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. Once again the - TopicsExpress

Back from Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. Once again the Neutropenia kicked in. Jacob had an ear infection while we were in Ohio so we had speepless nights and he had to get another antibiotic prescription. We met with the most caring medical staff at CCH which is comforting beyond measure. We were told at the evaluation that they also believe Jacob has DBA. We were also told they would suggest steroid treatments in his future (usually done at age 2) with this procedure working around 50% of the time. A bone marrow transplant is a last resort, but since it is a possibility April and Jacob were swabbed at the clinic and a packet was sent home for swabbing of Scott and Jenna to be sent back by Fed Ex. The 18 swabs each will determine if they are a match for Jacob for transplant purpose. 28 ccs of blood were drawn from him and put into multiple viles for different tests. A test was requested that may be done at Brenners if they offer it (we find out this week). This test will help determine if he is already going into iron overload from the 21 blood transfusions he has already had. If Brenners does not offer the test, we will be going back to Cincinnati to get the test done and another bone marrow biopsy possibly. The doctor spent an hour just talking to us so there is much more, but this pretty well sums up the most important information. Please continue to keep Jacob and family in prayer. We depend on our faith everyday. Also, if you havent bought a ticket to the DBA/Ronald McDonald House Steak Dinner yet there are still tickets available. I believe it will be a special night. Tickets are pre-sale only.
