Back from PTQ SLC. I finished 20th out of 145 with a 5-2-1 record with Soul Sisters. Pretty satisfied with the results. The matches I lost came down to the wire against Fish and UWR control and a tie against esper gifts that I probably should have lost. I was however VERY pleased with the wins, as this is exactly why I chose and tuned soul sisters for the current Meta, beating BW Tokens, UWR Midrange, BG Rock, Jund and Splinter Twin. Merfolk was an interesting matchup. I got completely blown out by Vedalken Shackles game 3. In the other two games they came down to who anthemed out quicker, me by honor the pure game 1 and him by dropping multiple lords game 2. UWR Control was the 3 snapcaster, mainboard supreme verdict version that I dread. Game 1 I over-extended thinking I was playing one of the midrange variants and got blown out by a turn 4 verdict. The Jund, Twin, BG Rock, UWR midrange, and BW tokens were fairly simple and easy. I even tried my best to punt some of the games and the deck still pulled through. Soul Sisters just has too much card advantage for those decks to keep up. I am still under the impression that Soul Sisters is a great deck choice for modern. I am now 14-3-2 in modern PTQs with the deck as well as several 4-0 MTGO daily and 1 6-0 premier finish. As far as card choices, Brimaz was terrible all day, and is definitely getting cut for a 1 of Dryad Militant. Blind Obedience was a surprisingly good sideboard card and I started bringing it in vs a lot of other creature based decks it acts as pseudo evasion making opponents creatures come into play tapped and extorting for that last bit of damage. It also comes in handy against decks that play torpor orb as you still have a way to gain life for Pridemate to tick up. Anyways, I am leaving on vacation for a week, so be sure to hold up the fort while I am gone! Kevin
