Back from the vets, we did blood glucose tests and they are better - TopicsExpress

Back from the vets, we did blood glucose tests and they are better then they have ever been which is great news but it also means that its most probably not the insulinoma that is causing Sammy grief...could be the prednisone, could be a stomach ulcer, could be anything. We are thinking about doing a full set of blood tests...need to talk to Doug about it. Its kind of like...do you keep poking and prodding a sick ferret or do you just let him live out his life in peace? Im always for a high life quality rather then quantity. What I do know that Im going to do today is make him some organic, grass fed bone broth to help him get some extra nutrients and also some Duck Soup to help him fatten up a bit. It might be nice and easy to digest for him as he has not been eating as much as usual...I actually ended up giving him a little bit of our cats kibble yesterday to see if he would eat it and its probably the most hes eaten in a while. I think Sammy is now slowly transitioning into Palliative care. He is going to be spoilt rotten, made as comfortable as possible, given lots of broth and soupies and plenty of love. The main thing for me is for him to not suffer much and when the time comes, for him to have a peaceful death. Im also really proud of Sammy because he was diagnosed with insulinoma in March last year so he has been going strong for 15 months which is really great (a ferret on a purely medication treatment has an average lifespan of 6 months after diagnosis, ferrets that have the surgery and then go on medication have a prolonged lifespan). Im really proud of him, hes been a happy ferret :) Still is!!! We are going to do the best to prolong his lifespan further while keeping him comfortable and happy. Thank you for the well wishes and prayers, you guys are amazing and all your comments mean the world to me :) Love you long time
