Back in London this week and it was lovely to be here and not be - TopicsExpress

Back in London this week and it was lovely to be here and not be driving an over sized hire van badly listing to one side due to my crazed loading at 3 mph near paralytic with fear due to the potential of a £1000+ excess the brigands had lumped me with. When back in town I like to walk down to Somerset House through Mayfair and the streets around St James Palace. The area houses some of the most beautiful and oldest shops in the world, two of my favorites are the hatter Lock & Co and the wonderful wine merchants Berry Brothers & Rudd where I was compelled to purchase a bottle or two. To put some context to it these businesses pre-date the United States of America by 100 years and 78 years respectively. Talking of traditions on entering Somerset House I was greeted by the sight of the ice skating rink having its finishing touches applied. Floating around the ice in the courtyard of the old palace is an incredible experience and I urge you to try it this year if you have never had the pleasure. The ice rink of course heralds the approach of winter and as such I am focusing more and more on the details of the Whisk & Whites winter chocolate collection due out December. I will post more details closer to the time however I can report that new Valrhona, Cluziel and Felchlin chocolates are being mercilessly sampled, and now the El Rey is available here in good supply I have placed my order. Change of collection also provides me an opportunity to re-evaluate core ingredients and if you are a maker of cream or butter in the UK I would be very interested to hear from you. In other dispatches I am working on a new brownie which I have to say is a little bit special, and there is a good chance I will be bringing it out for you at another food fair in November although I am currently deciding which one (stay tuned). Lastly I am still awaiting two significant chocolate reviews (fingers crossed) when I know so will you, good or bad I promise (fingers still crossed).
