Back in the 80s about 50 corporations controlled & dominated the US media outlets, but since then the media has rapidly become concentrated in fewer & fewer hands. Now only 6 incredibly powerful corporations control everything we watch, hear & read. Unfortunately, most Americans never stop & think about who feeds them endless hrs of news & entertainment that they constantly ingest every day & most Americans dont really seem to care who owns the media either - but they should! Truth is we all are deeply influenced by the messages that are constantly being pounded into our heads by the mainstream media. When you control what Americans watch, hear & read, you gain a great deal of control over what they think -they dont call it programming for nothing! The Big 6 Corporations that have captured our minds are: Time Warner; Walt Disney; Viacom; Rupert Murdochs News Corp.; CBS Corporation; NBC Universal. These corporations own & control TV networks, cable channels, movie studios, newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, music labels & many of our favorite social media sites. Now check out the list of what these media outlets own & control....mind boggling....still say we not programmed.
