Back in the day in San Diego there were two bands I tried to catch every chance I could. Mac Meda and Aircraft. I actually opened up for them at Straight Ahead Sound back in the very early eighties. I couldnt have been 21 years old. I fake married vocalist Rob Lamothe on stage at that show....and, I cant remember why that happened....but, I swear to god it did. We sounded great at soundcheck...but when we opened the show....everything that could go wrong....did. George Cataulins brand new explorer had strap lock failure and his guitar hit the floor and bounced back into his arms. Keith Larson broke a string. John Knight threw a stick which hit me right in the head....but....we got through it. The memory is actually SO hilarious.....I am glad it all went so bad. Its now worth it. I remember how jealous my band was when we saw Mac Meda load their equipment onto a truck with a hydraulic lift. We could barely fit our beat up gear into our shitty cars. Anyway....I have long been a fan of Ronnie Jones in his various musical endeavors. That was then.....this is now! Check it out.....Ronnie says he wishes the drums were a little more up in this mix. it will be remixed and on his new upcoming release. I will keep you posted when I learn more. ~Music columnist, Desert Rhythms / Robin Linn
