Back injuries can happen to the best of us at the worst times possible. Here are some simple things that you can do to make sure you recover quickly after an episode of back pain... 1 make sure you remember what you were doing when the back pain occurred. 2 the pain is there for a reason. By triggering it off over and over you will ultimately prolong the recovery by sensitising the nerves that are there. Resting and allowing things to recover is vital to a quick recovery and reduced episodes. 3 knowing what triggers off the pain really helps us understand what tissues and structures are affected in the back. This will help with the diagnosis and treatment of your painful condition. 4 getting an early diagnosis is paramount to a quick recovery and understanding whats happened. 5 sometimes treatment may not be your best option. Once youve understood the back pain by a correct diagnosis this will determine the treatment pathway. Dont let anyone treat your back without a clear treatment plan being conveyed to you first. The treatment plan should always include the reason why the practitioner thinks youve hurt your back as well as what is hurting in your back. If this isnt clear the practitioner may request some investigations to make sure its clear. Treating without a clear diagnosis will only lead to one thing! Diagnosing back issues in elite sport is no different to the general public except it often happens quicker! This will speed up recovery and help get players back on the field/track/court as soon as possible! Good luck getting back to full strength Roger Federer we wish you well!
